San Diego, CA – A horrific collision occurred early in the morning on September 10, 2023, that has left the community of San Diego in shock. The incident took place at 5:29 am on NB I-805, just south of I-905.

 

According to preliminary reports, a Volkswagen, driven by a male, was speeding north on the I-805. Without warning, he crashed into the rear of a Honda, which was driven by an older male. The impact was so intense that the Volkswagen then smashed into the center divider.

 

Post-collision, the fate of the two vehicles was vastly different. The Honda was jettisoned off, ending up on the off-ramp lane leading to the I-905. Tragically, the driver of the Honda was found dead inside his vehicle by the SDFD Firefighters who promptly arrived at the scene.

 

The scene was equally grim around the Volkswagen. Its driver, apparently intoxicated, was found lying on the ground. The severity of his injuries is unknown at this time, but he was quickly transported to a local hospital for medical attention.

 

Due to the accident’s severity and the need for a thorough investigation, authorities have temporarily closed the northbound I-805 at San Ysidro Blvd. Commuters are advised to take alternative routes and to expect delays in the vicinity.

 

This accident serves as a heartbreaking reminder of the dangers of driving under the influence and speeding. As the community mourns the loss of the deceased, it’s imperative to remember the importance of safe driving and the preciousness of life.
