A fatal SUV collision at a Mission Hills car dealership left one woman dead and two others injured on Wednesday morning. The incident unfolded around 9:10 a.m. at the address 11041 N. Sepulveda Blvd., as confirmed by the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Early findings suggest that the accident took place when the driver mistakenly pressed the accelerator, causing the vehicle to barrel through the establishment. LAPD Detective Lisset Fuentes confirmed that the vehicle hit two employees and one customer before halting in the dealership’s customer reception area.
Eyewitnesses recounted a harrowing scene where a patron was pinned under the car after being pulled for approximately 20 feet. Swift action by onlookers, including an off-duty nurse administering CPR, ensured her extraction. Sadly, the 56-year-old victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, succumbed to her injuries after being rushed to a trauma facility.
While initial reports from fire officials suggested four casualties, the LAPD later clarified that only three were injured. Among them, two dealership employees faced non-life-threatening injuries, with one sustaining a head injury.
Despite the chaotic scene, the driver seemed physically unharmed and opted against medical treatment, staying on site to liaise with LAPD officers.
Internal dealership footage presented the shocking aftermath, revealing shattered glass and scattered debris. A witness, who arrived at the dealership moments before the crash, recounted hearing a thunderous noise shortly before observing the catastrophic event. He recalled the traumatic sight of the SUV crashing deep inside the facility, impacting several individuals.
The ongoing police inquiry suggests that the incident wasn’t deliberate.
